I Want to be Confirmed

Confirmation

CONFIRMATION

Confirmation can be an important part of a lifetime journey of faith as a follower of Jesus.
Infants are normally baptised and promises are made on their behalf by parents and Godparents, to read the Bible, pray, and worship regularly so that their child may grow in the faith.  When the child is old enough, they can make a personal commitment, confirming  those baptismal promises and thus be confirmed by the bishop.

At a Service of Confirmation there are often candidates of all ages and some will already have been baptised whilst others will be baptised and confirmed at the same service. There is no upper age limit.

The Service of Confirmation follows a period of preparation. Confirmation Groups for Young People and Adults will look at various aspects of the Christian faith. The sessions will be be informal, fun and stimulating and you will be able to ask difficult questions and engage in discussion.

Not sure if you were baptised?  Not a problem!

People whose develop a Christian faith later in life are sometimes not sure if they were ever baptised.  At a service of confirmation they will receive a “Conditional baptism”, at which the words “If you have not already been baptised, I baptise you….” are used.  This is quite normal and nothing to be worried about.
